THREE LEVELS OF ICCE CERTIFICATION

ICCE GENERAL CERTIFICATE

The General Certificate requires a similar level of work needed to obtain GCSEs. It covers English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Biblical Studies, and a number of options chosen by the student which would normally include Information Technology.

ICCE INTERMEDIATE CERTIFICATE

The Intermediate Certificate is at a similar standard to AS Level. Again, it includes courses in English, Mathematics and Science, building on the knowledge already acquired. There are additional courses in the Humanities including Biblical Studies.

ICCE ADVANCED CERTIFICATE

Many students completing this certificate go on to study at degree level. The programme content is determined by the student’s intended degree course or future career aspirations.

Why ICDL in ACE School?

A few years ago, ICCE (International Certificate for Christian Education), an assessment body for ACE (comparable to Uganda’s UNEB) passed a resolution that all students in grades 8-12 to receive their academic certification required to have studied and assessed in the area of Technology. In that regard, only two programs were recommended having met the standards. One of the programs recommended is ICDL certification.

To what level of certification does ICCE require?

ICCE requires a student to have completed seven (7) modules of ICDL. Notable among these modules include; Computer Essentials, Online Essentials, Word Processing, Spreadsheets,Presentation, Online Collaboration, IT Security. Each of the above modules done and tested a student is entitled to an international certificate from ICDL.

However, there are other modules that ICDL is offering that students could choose from to pursue based on their personal career path. Such professional courses include; ICT in Education (suitable for Teachers), ICT in Health (for doctors and Nurses etc), Digital Marketing (for today’s market leaders), Project Planning, Advanced Database (for bankers) among so many others.

Is the ICCE Certifiate recognized by UNEB?

 As of 2021, the ICCE General and Advanced Certificates are officially recognized by the Ugandan National Examinations Board (UNEB). Students who obtain ICCE Certficates are eligible to enroll into Universities in Uganda through the process of certificate equation.
